G Kamalini steps up for India

India have named 17‑year‑old wicketkeeper‑batter G Kamalini in their 15‑player squad for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi‑Nagoya, Japan, marking the only change from the Harmanpreet Kaur‑led group that exited the Women’s T20 World Cup in the group stage. Kamalini replaces Yastika Bhatia after impressing with India A during the recent England tour, where she struck an unbeaten 35 in Northampton. A standout at the 2025 U19 World Cup, she was signed by Mumbai Indians for INR 1.6 crore and retained ahead of the 2026 mega auction.

Her WPL record includes 107 runs across two seasons, while her lone senior India appearance came against Sri Lanka last December. Bhatia’s omission follows a difficult World Cup, where she managed only 41 runs. Shreyanka Patil returns subject to fitness after an ankle injury, while Prema Rawat misses out. India enter the tournament as defending champions after winning gold in Hangzhou.
