Sudharsan sidelined as India’s injury list grows

India have suffered another setback with Sai Sudharsan ruled out of the two‑Test series in Sri Lanka due to a lingering toe injury. The twenty‑four‑year‑old did not travel with the squad earlier in the week and was absent from the warm‑up match in Colombo. BCCI sources say doctors advised additional time for biological healing, noting that although his recovery has improved, it is not yet sufficient for the demands of Test cricket. His rehabilitation and workload will now be increased gradually under close monitoring to avoid recurrence and protect long‑term performance.

Sudharsan’s absence adds to India’s growing concerns, with Jasprit Bumrah already unavailable and Washington Sundar also managing an injury. Captain Shubman Gill missed the warm‑up after suffering an impact blow to his right ring finger. With Sudharsan out, Devdutt Padikkal is expected to take the No. 3 spot, strengthening his case with an unbeaten 142 in the practice game.
