FC Barcelona have formally submitted their bid to host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final, confirming that all required technical, contractual and institutional documentation has been delivered to UEFA ahead of Wednesday’s deadline. The club highlighted the Spotify Camp Nou’s status as a world‑class venue, noting its elite UEFA classification and its position as Europe’s largest stadium with a 105,000 capacity.
Barcelona will compete directly with London’s Wembley Stadium, creating a high‑profile contest to stage the 2 June 2029 final. The Catalan club emphasised the stadium’s rich history, having hosted iconic finals in 1989 and 1999, and argued that the renovated venue meets every criterion to serve as the ideal stage for European football’s biggest night. UEFA will now conduct a detailed evaluation of all proposals, with a final decision expected in the last quarter of the year. Hosts for 2027 and 2028 are already confirmed as Madrid and Munich.
