Hamilton handed debut as Australia lock in T20 World Cup squad

Australia have finalised their squad for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, awarding young left‑arm fast bowler Lucy Hamilton her first major‑tournament selection and recalling allrounder Grace Harris. The 15‑player group, captained by Sophie Molineux, also includes Annabel Sutherland, with both she and Harris returning after missing the Caribbean tour in March. Pace bowler Darcie Brown has been left out.

Hamilton strengthens a deep fast‑bowling group featuring Ellyse Perry, who is set for her tenth T20 World Cup, as well as Megan Schutt and Kim Garth. Molineux heads a strong spin attack supported by Alana King, Ash Gardner and Georgia Wareham, while Gardner and Tahlia McGrath serve as vice‑captains. Tahlia Wilson has been named reserve.

Hamilton only entered international cricket in March, debuting in Tests and ODIs against India and playing one T20I. Selector Shawn Flegler said conditions and squad balance favoured Hamilton, backing the experienced group to contend for the title.
