Massimiliano Allegri dismissed suggestions that he could become Italy’s next head coach, insisting he intends to continue his work at AC Milan. The fifty‑eight‑year‑old was immediately linked with the national team job, alongside Napoli boss Antonio Conte, after Gennaro Gattuso resigned following Italy’s failure to reach a third consecutive World Cup. Speaking before Milan’s trip to Verona, Allegri said frequent job changes “aren’t part of my DNA” and stressed his preference for a club environment run with a clear business structure.
Allegri previously led Milan from 2010 to 2014 before enjoying a trophy‑laden spell at Juventus, returning there in 2021 and departing three years later. Back at Milan since last summer, he has the team sitting third in Serie A despite losing three of their last four matches. Allegri said he remains involved in planning summer transfers and believes ambition is essential if Milan are to build toward future Champions League spot.
