Viking FK delivered a powerful reminder of their status as reigning Norwegian champions with a resounding 5–0 demolition of Bodo/Glimt on Saturday. The visitors, who stunned Europe by reaching the Champions League round of sixteen earlier this season, endured their heaviest Eliteserien defeat since a 6–0 loss to Valerenga in 2019.
The onslaught began after five minutes when Danish striker Peter Christiansen opened the scoring, and Kristoffer Askildsen doubled the lead nine minutes later following neat work from former Brondby midfielder Joe Bell. Viking’s intensity overwhelmed Bodo/Glimt, and Simen Kvia‑Egeskog struck twice, first after sixteen minutes, then again midway through the second half, before captain Zlatko Tripic completed the rout three minutes from time.
Coach Kjetil Knutsen admitted the result was “embarrassing and humiliating”, praising Viking’s energy and power. Bodo/Glimt will attempt to respond on Wednesday when they travel to face Sarpsborg.
