The Mumbai Cricket Association has downplayed any disappointment over not receiving a Test match in India’s upcoming 2026–27 home season, insisting it remains fully aligned with the BCCI’s scheduling framework. MCA president Ajinkya Naik said the association follows all directives from the parent body and treats every fixture with the same importance.
Although 22 international games will be staged across 17 cities, the Wankhede Stadium has been allotted only one: an ODI against Zimbabwe on January 9, 2027. Naik reiterated that, for the MCA, a Ranji Trophy clash, an IPL contest or a club match holds equal weight. Speaking at a felicitation event celebrating the MCA’s third straight award as India’s best state unit, he added that the focus remains on fostering cricket in Mumbai. While none of the Border‑Gavaskar Tests will be played at the Wankhede, Naik declined to question the BCCI’s rotation policy, noting the venue recently hosted eight T20 World Cup fixtures.
