Bangladesh clears national players to join PSL after security review

Bangladesh’s national cricketers have received official clearance to participate in the Pakistan Super League after the government completed a security assessment, senior officials confirmed. The update followed earlier remarks from state minister for youth and sports Aminul Haq, who stressed that players would not be allowed to travel without full assurance regarding their safety.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board had insisted on government authorization due to heightened regional sensitivities, yet four players departed for Pakistan shortly after the initial announcement, prompting questions about whether they were acting independently. A top government representative later clarified that the foreign ministry consulted the High Commission in Islamabad, which reported stable conditions, a temporary ceasefire in the region, and strong security measures in Lahore and Karachi.

With those assurances, the government approved participation. Six players, including Mustafizur Rahman and Shoriful Islam, had already secured NOCs for the tournament from March 26 to May 3.
