Rohit Sharma sees India’s global success as a launchpad

India currently holds an extraordinary collection of ICC trophies across men’s and women’s cricket, and Rohit Sharma hopes this wave of triumphs signals the beginning of something bigger. Speaking at the launch of the women’s T20 Mumbai League, the 2024 T20 World Cup–winning captain praised the achievements of both national teams, calling their recent performances “phenomenal” and urging them to carry that momentum forward. Rohit also reflected on the role of luck in a player’s rise, noting that talent and hard work must be paired with being noticed at the right moment.

He highlighted how Mumbai’s cricketing structure, and the T20 Mumbai platform in particular, has helped young players progress to the IPL and even the national side. With the men’s and women’s editions of the league set to begin after the IPL on May 31, Rohit expressed confidence that the competition will continue shaping future stars and strengthening India’s cricketing depth.
