The Bermuda Golf Association, the event’s organizers, now aims to officially stage the two-day championship on February 21 and 22 at the Southampton venue.
This year’s tournament has attracted significant interest, with 92 players registered to participate. The field comprises 30 teams in the Men’s Championship, 15 squads in the Senior Men’s Championship, and six pairs in the Ladies Championship.
Competitors are chasing defending champions Jevon Roberts and Oliver Betschart. After finishing as runners-up three times in succession, the determined pair finally clinched their maiden title last year. They secured a narrow one-shot victory over rivals James Godwin and Christopher Ford. Players must now wait until late February to see if the champions can successfully defend their hard-won crown against the large field.
