Tom McKibbin secured a landmark victory at the Hong Kong Open, a win that grants him his first-ever entry into the Masters and a spot in The Open. The 22-year-old Northern Irishman led the prestigious Asian Tour event from the first round to the last.
McKibbin's dominant performance began with a course-record 10-under-par 60 on the opening day. He maintained his lead throughout the tournament, finishing with a final-round 63 to close at 27-under 253. This wire-to-wire victory was not only a personal triumph but also set a new 72-hole scoring record for the tournament. His seven-shot victory over runner-up Peter Uihlein also matched the event's largest-ever winning margin.
The win is particularly significant as the Hong Kong Open is now a qualifying event for two of golf's major championships. "I played some of the best golf I've ever played," McKibbin said, calling the achievement "pretty special."
