At the second Twenty20 International match against New Zealand on October 20 at Hagley Oval in Christchurch, England's skipper, Harry Brook, was in outstanding form. With England struggling at 68 for 2, Brook joined Phil Salt in batting after Jacob Bethell was removed for 24 off 12 balls. With remarkable poise, Brook dominated the innings and put on a brilliant display. Brook became the second-fastest England skipper to reach fifty in Twenty20 Internationals after smashing his sixth fifty in just 22 balls.
After facing New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner in the 14th over, he hit the fifty-run mark with a single off the over's last delivery. Notably, Eoin Morgan still holds the record for the fastest T20I fifty by an England captain. He accomplished it twice, in only 21 balls, against South Africa in 2020 and New Zealand in 2019.
