In a high-scoring IPL match against the Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday, the Lucknow Super Giants won by a tight four runs, thanks to explosive performances from Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh. At Kolkata's Eden Gardens, Marsh hit 81 for his fourth half-century of the competition, while Pooran hit an undefeated 36-ball 87 to propel Lucknow to 238-3.
Kolkata put up a valiant fight, finishing 234-7, with captain Ajinkya Rahane scoring 61 off 35 balls and Rinku Singh blasting an undefeated 38 in a late burst. Out of five games, Lucknow has won three. After winning their third IPL championship the previous year, Kolkata had lost three of their past five games. KKR lost four wickets in 16 balls as a result of a middle-order collapse brought on by LSG fast bowlers Akash Deep and Shardul Thakur, who both claimed two wickets. It set up Kolkata for another loss in the IPL.
