F1 extends Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai until 2030

Formula 1 has confirmed a five-year extension with the Chinese Grand Prix, keeping the Shanghai International Circuit on the calendar until 2030. Known for its challenging 5.45km layout featuring iconic corners like Turns 1-2 and 7-8, the track has hosted thrilling races since its 2004 debut, where Rubens Barrichello claimed victory.

The event has seen ten different winners, including Lewis Hamilton with six wins and Fernando Alonso with two from the current grid. Formula 1’s popularity in China continues to grow, now boasting over 150 million fans, with half joining in the last four years—50% of them women. In 2025, the Chinese Grand Prix will serve as the second round (March 21-23) and will feature the season’s first F1 Sprint and F1 Academy round. F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali praised Shanghai’s incredible track and looks forward to returning next year.
