Verstappen shifts focus to 2027 as Red Bull endures a winless year

Max Verstappen is confronting the possibility of his first winless campaign as a Red Bull driver, despite recently signing a massive contract extension. The Dutchman acknowledged that the team is already prioritising 2027, using the current season as a development platform. Speaking to Carlo Platella, Verstappen said Red Bull are “not happy with where we are” and must improve the car for next year, adding that progress will come “step by step” as both chassis and power unit evolve. He admitted uncertainty about his long‑term future but emphasised his comfort within the team and his many interests outside F1.

Verstappen also highlighted the collective hunger to return to the top, noting internal changes but expressing confidence in the direction of the project. With Mercedes still a benchmark, McLaren surging forward and Ferrari consistent in upgrades, Verstappen views 2026 as groundwork for a decisive leap, convinced Red Bull can reclaim winning form.
