Dwight Howard calls time on his career after Georgia stint

Dwight Howard has officially stepped away from professional basketball, ending his playing days in Georgia with Black Fortress Tbilisi. The announcement followed an 89-82 defeat to TSU, in which the former NBA star recorded 10 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Howard’s final chapter lasted just two games. In his debut, the veteran center registered 12 points, seven rebounds and three blocks, offering a glimpse of the skills that once made him one of the league’s most formidable big men.

His last NBA appearance came with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2022. Since then, he explored international basketball, competing in Taiwan, appearing at a Dubai tournament and joining the BIG3 three-on-three league.

Selected first overall by Orlando in 2004, Howard spent 18 NBA seasons, earning eight All-Star selections and three consecutive Defensive Player of the Year awards.

He won the 2020 NBA championship with the Lakers and retires with career averages of 15.7 points and 11.8 rebounds across 1,242 regular-season games.
