Lahiru Udara replaces Nissanka in Sri Lanka’s ODI squad

Sri Lanka have called up Lahiru Udara to replace Pathum Nissanka in their ODI squad for the upcoming tri-nation series in Pakistan, Sri Lanka Cricket confirmed on Thursday.

Nissanka suffered a hamstring injury during the England tour and remains unavailable until he receives medical clearance. His selection had been conditional on achieving full fitness.

Udara, who has yet to make his ODI debut, has represented Sri Lanka in five Tests and seven T20Is. He recently impressed against Pakistan, scoring 91 in the opening T20I, following his maiden Test century, a remarkable 188 against West Indies in July.

Nissanka remains part of Sri Lanka’s squad for the two-Test series against Pakistan beginning November 9, although his participation will depend on his recovery.

The tri-nation ODI competition, featuring Sri Lanka, Pakistan and England, begins October 18, with the final scheduled for October 31.
