Knicks set for historic Wall Street debut as franchise valuations soar

The New York Knicks are set to become the first NBA team in nearly 25 years to return to the stock market, as Madison Square Garden Sports Corp approves the separation of the Knicks and Rangers into two publicly traded companies. The new entity, MSG Knickerbockers Corp, will include the Knicks and their Westchester affiliate, while MSG Rangers Corp will oversee the Rangers and the Hartford Wolf Pack. The move, expected to be completed by month’s end, comes as franchise valuations continue to surge across major sports. Sportico recently valued the Knicks at around $10 billion, a figure boosted by the record sale of the Lakers.

The Knicks will debut on the NYSE under the ticker MGSK, with the Rangers listed as MSGR. CEO James Dolan described the restructuring as a strategic step toward long‑term value creation, reflecting a broader trend in which elite sports assets attract unprecedented global financial interest.
