Nuggets add Whitmore on two‑way deal

Cam Whitmore is set to join the Denver Nuggets on a two‑way contract, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The 22‑year‑old forward is already in Denver and has begun training with several players, following days of reported interest from the franchise. A 2023 first‑round pick, Whitmore was traded last month from Washington to Cleveland, only to be waived on 29 August for salary‑flexibility reasons ahead of preseason. He previously logged 98 games across two seasons with Houston, averaging 10.8 points and 3.4 rebounds, before a stint with the Wizards was cut short by a blood clot in his right shoulder.

Whitmore has expressed confidence about returning fully for 2026‑27. Denver will use its final two‑way slot on him, alongside KJ Simpson and Bryce Hopkins. The deal allows Whitmore to appear in up to 50 regular‑season games while earning $678,882, plus the $5.46 million guaranteed from his Cavaliers contract, before hitting unrestricted free agency in July 2027.
