Aston Villa earn first EPL win after sweeping aside toothless Tottenham

Aston Villa earned their first Premier League victory of the season by defeating Tottenham 3‑2, intensifying scrutiny on Roberto De Zerbi as Spurs remain without a win. Despite a bright start, Tottenham’s early barrage was repeatedly denied by goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who produced sharp stops on Savio and Archie Gray. Villa threatened on the break, and just before half‑time Johan Manzambi turned in Boubacar Kamara’s mishit effort to give the visitors the lead.

De Zerbi introduced Mohamed Kudus at the interval, but Spurs’ frustrations grew when Kudus had an equaliser ruled out for offside. Villa struck again through Nicolas Jackson, who squeezed home a second before Emiliano Buendia’s stunning 25‑yard strike made it 3‑0, prompting boos and early exits. Tottenham finally broke their scoring drought late on, with Conor Gallagher’s deflected effort and Jan Paul van Hecke’s header, but the late rally did little to ease concerns heading into the international break.
