Osimhen and Iwobi lead Nigeria squad as Ilenikhena earns first call‑up

Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle has unveiled a 24‑man squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double‑header against Madagascar and Guinea‑Bissau, with Victor Osimhen, Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Ademola Lookman and Moses Simon headlining the list. The Super Eagles open at home on September 25 in Uyo before travelling to Bissau four days later. Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali keeps his place, joined by Maduka Okoye and Arthur Okonkwo, standout of the recent Unity Cup.

Chelle has recalled England‑based defenders Olaoluwa Aina and Benjamin Fredricks, while Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey and Bright Osayi‑Samuel also feature. First‑time call‑ups include Portugal‑based Isaac James, forward George Ilenikhena and winger Moses Usor. Ndidi and Iwobi anchor a midfield completed by Frank Onyeka and Raphael Onyedika, with attacking options led by Osimhen, Lookman, Simon, Samuel Chukwueze, Akor Adams and Tolu Arokodare. Nigeria aim for maximum points as they begin their road to a tournament hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda.
