Rrahmani quits Kosovo national team and blasts federation leadership

Amir Rrahmani has announced his shock departure from the Kosovo national team, ending a ten‑year international career marked by 67 caps and a long spell as captain. In a forceful Instagram statement, the 32‑year‑old Napoli centre‑back said he will not return as long as the current federation leadership remains in charge, citing years of unresolved issues, internal clashes and what he described as a lack of competence within the FFK. Rrahmani, who switched allegiance from Albania after Kosovo’s official recognition by UEFA and FIFA, denounced “continuous and coordinated attacks” over the past two years and stressed that his decision stems from the need to protect his integrity and values.

His exit comes just before the international break, leaving Kosovo without one of its most influential figures. The rupture marks a dramatic turning point for a team still building its identity on the international stage.
