Karn Sharma ends international and domestic journey

Karn Sharma has announced his retirement from international and Indian domestic cricket, ending a long career that saw him represent India in all three formats. The 38‑year‑old made his decision public after a UP T20 League match and will play his final game for Kanpur on August 25. Sharma’s international stint was brief but notable: one Test, two ODIs and a T20I in 2014, highlighted by his dismissal of Joe Root on debut and his selection over Ravichandran Ashwin for the Adelaide Test.

Domestically, Sharma built a substantial résumé. Debuting for Railways in 2007, he later played for Andhra and Vidarbha before returning to Railways. His IPL career was equally significant, collecting four titles, including three consecutive championships from 2016 to 2018 with Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.

In his retirement note, Sharma expressed gratitude to supporters and confirmed his intention to pursue coaching and cricket‑related responsibilities.
