Hazlewood back for Darwin test as Carey holds No. 6 spot

Australia will field its full first‑choice pace attack for the first time in more than a year after Josh Hazlewood was selected ahead of Scott Boland for the opening Test against Bangladesh in Darwin. Pat Cummins confirmed Hazlewood’s return to international cricket, his first appearance since last October following the injury that sidelined him for the entire Ashes. Cummins himself has not played for Australia since facing the West Indies, while Nathan Lyon also reclaims his spot after a hamstring issue cut short his Ashes campaign.

Cummins praised Lyon’s form and work ethic, calling his Adelaide performance the best he had produced in years. Australia also finalised its batting order, with Cameron Green at No. 5, Alex Carey retained at No. 6 and Beau Webster at No. 7. Carey had pushed for a promotion, but Cummins said the current balance works best. Jake Weatherald will continue opening alongside Travis Head in a partnership formed during the Ashes.
