Ryu completes stunning major comeback

Haeran Ryu claimed her maiden major title with a composed two‑under 70 to win the Women’s PGA Championship by two strokes at Hazeltine National. The 25‑year‑old, who trailed by 10 after the opening round, surged back into contention with an eight‑under second round and never relinquished her lead on Sunday. Ryu finished at 13‑under 275, holding off compatriot Yoon Ina, who birdied the final hole to secure solo second. Brooke Henderson and Dewi Weber shared third.

Playing her first event after minor surgery, Ryu switched putters and embraced her coach’s advice to trust herself, rolling in key birdies at the 10th and 12th and saving par at 16. The front nine saw constant swings, with Henderson, Weber and Yoon briefly touching the lead before fading. World No.1 Nelly Korda mounted a charge but faltered late, finishing tied eighth. Ryu earned $1.95 million and celebrated hearing her new title: major champion.
