West Indies rest Alzarri Joseph for Sri Lanka T20Is

Cricket West Indies has ruled out fast bowler Alzarri Joseph for the upcoming home T20I series against Sri Lanka, opting to manage his workload ahead of the two‑match Test series. Joseph, absent from T20Is since July last year, will sit out as the team begins its first assignment in the format after the 2026 T20 World Cup, where they came close to a semifinal spot.

The squad features three changes from that tournament, with Ackeem Auguste, Jewel Andrew and Shamar Springer replacing Johnson Charles, Quentin Sampson and Jayden Seales. All three additions have prior T20I experience. Shamar Joseph, who left before the third ODI, is expected to return for the T20 leg.

Sri Lanka won the ODI series 1‑0 after two washouts. The T20Is will be staged at Sabina Park on June 11, 13 and 14. Head coach Daren Sammy highlighted the importance of continuity and competing with renewed purpose.
