Ireland have confirmed that medium pacer Jane Maguire will miss the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup after suffering a knee injury during the Cricket Ireland Women’s Super T20 Series. Her sister, off‑spinner Aimee Maguire, has recovered from her own injury and features in the 15‑player squad named for the tournament in England. Gaby Lewis will captain Ireland in their fifth T20 World Cup appearance, marking her first major global event as skipper since replacing Laura Delany in 2024. Lewis will, however, sit out the upcoming tri‑series against West Indies and Pakistan due to an injury sustained while playing for Lancashire.
In her absence, vice‑captain Orla Prendergast will lead Ireland, with the tri‑series beginning on May 28 in Clontarf. Lewis confirmed she will be fit for the World Cup. Ireland are placed in Group 2 alongside England, New Zealand, Scotland, Sri Lanka and West Indies, opening against Scotland in Manchester on June 13.
