Villeneuve returns to racing in Porsche Supercup

Jacques Villeneuve is set for an unexpected return to competition, joining this year’s Porsche Supercup as part of the Formula 1 support programme. The 55‑year‑old Canadian, now a Williams ambassador, will make his debut in the one‑make series at Monte Carlo in early June, marking his first full racing commitment since his WEC outings in 2023. Villeneuve’s résumé remains one of motorsport’s most distinctive: winner of the Indianapolis 500 and CART champion in 1995, he claimed the Formula 1 world title two years later before continuing to explore diverse categories, from NASCAR to rallycross and Formula E.

His Supercup entry will feature a Porsche 911 carrying a livery inspired by the colourful stripes of his iconic helmet, a design rooted in patterns created by his mother. The championship includes eight rounds, running from Monaco to Monza. Welcoming him, Porsche highlighted his pedigree and expressed confidence that his presence will add excitement throughout the season.
