Owners consider selling Grasshoppers after backlash from fans

Grasshoppers’ ownership admitted they are considering selling part or all of the club following escalating protests from supporters unhappy with the current management. In a statement, the group connected to the American owners of Los Angeles FC said they are willing to discuss a sale, provided any new investor guarantees long‑term financial and sporting stability. Fan frustration has grown in recent weeks, fuelled by demonstrations during matches and a Swiss Cup semi‑final defeat to second‑tier Lausanne‑Ouchy.

The owners stressed that operating costs continue to exceed revenues, arguing that external investment remains essential for Grasshoppers to stay competitive. The team finished the first phase of the league in eleventh place and are now fighting to avoid relegation. Despite being Switzerland’s most decorated club with 27 league titles, Grasshoppers have endured two decades of instability, including relegation in 2019. The LAFC‑linked group took majority control in 2024, integrating the club into an international multi‑ownership model.
