Bayern Munich have been fined by UEFA but avoided a supporter lockout after several photographers were injured when fans spilled over barriers during the Champions League quarter‑final win against Real Madrid. The incident occurred in April, when Bayern scored twice in the closing moments of the second leg at the Allianz Arena, prompting a group of ultras to climb the advertising boards and inadvertently trample pitch‑side photographers. One suffered a concussion, another sustained a head laceration, and others required medical attention.
UEFA issued a total fine of 89,625 euros, including penalties for spectator disturbances, a banner critical of the organisation, blocked aisles and objects thrown onto the pitch. Despite the risk of restrictions for the semi‑final second leg against Paris Saint‑Germain, Bayern remained confident of hosting a full crowd. Sporting director Christoph Freund said before the ruling that the club expected “a football festival with a full stadium” for the meeting with Paris.
