Xavi emerges as leading candidate for Inter Miami job

Xavi Hernández has been identified as one of the main contenders to become Inter Miami’s next head coach following Javier Mascherano’s sudden resignation, according to Sport. Mascherano stepped down for personal reasons despite guiding the club to the 2025 MLS title with a squad featuring Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba. In the meantime, Guillermo Hoyos has taken temporary charge while co‑owner David Beckham evaluates long‑term options.

The report notes that Xavi is viewed internally as a strong candidate, though no formal talks have begun. Argentine coach Marcelo Gallardo is also on the shortlist, but his name remains at the stage of consideration rather than negotiation. Inter Miami are expected to take their time before making a final decision as they look for a manager capable of sustaining the club’s recent success and guiding a star‑studded roster through the next phase of its development.
