Miami Heat cut Rozier as betting probe forces roster move

Miami have waived Terry Rozier after months of uncertainty tied to his arrest and suspension in an ongoing federal probe into illegal sports betting. Rozier, charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and money laundering for alleged activities dating back to his Charlotte tenure, has pleaded not guilty. His $26.6 million salary remains frozen in a guarantee fund until the case is resolved.

The move also reopens scrutiny of the January 2024 trade that sent him to Miami. The Heat questioned whether they should have been informed of the investigation beforehand, prompting Charlotte to send a second‑round pick in this June’s Draft to settle the dispute. Commissioner Adam Silver has called the matter unprecedented, highlighting its seriousness for the league.
