Barcelona consider Lucumi as cheaper alternative to Bastoni

Barcelona are reassessing their defensive plans as negotiations for Inter’s Alessandro Bastoni prove increasingly difficult. According to Sport, sporting director Deco remains an admirer of the Italian centre‑back, but Barça’s €45 million proposal — paired with a €5 million annual salary — falls well short of Inter’s €60 million valuation. Although Bastoni is open to the move, the overall financial package has forced the club to explore more realistic alternatives.

That shift has brought Jhon Lucumí back into focus. The Bologna defender, long monitored by Barcelona, offers top‑flight experience at a far more accessible price. The 27‑year‑old Colombian has made 145 Serie A appearances, impressed in European competition and fits comfortably in a two‑man back line. With his contract running until 2027 and no renewal in sight, his estimated €25 million fee aligns with Barcelona’s budget. Premier League and Turkish clubs are also interested, adding urgency to Barça’s decision.
