A statement from the league ensured steps were being taken to ensure action would return safely: "In cooperation with all relevant stakeholders and partners, and in close coordination with security authorities and match organisers, precautionary measures are being implemented to ensure the safe return of the competition.
"The Qatar Stars League has also approved a protocol aimed at safeguarding players, staff, officials and everyone involved in match operations, following a workshop held with all relevant entities, to outline the safety procedures to be followed in the event of an emergency."
The Qatar Stars League confirmed that the scheduled Round 18, which was supposed to begin on March 5th, will now take place a week later.
The CEO of the league, Hani Ballan, said: "These are challenging and unprecedented times for our country.
Life is gradually returning to normal. We extend our wishes for peace and compassion to the region."
