Uruguayan striker Darwin Núñez has sparked a sudden internal crisis at Al-Hilal following a dispute with management regarding his future during the current winter transfer window. After the club finalized a deal for French forward Karim Benzema, Núñez demanded permission to join Turkish side Fenerbahçe.
According to "Okaz," the striker expressed severe dissatisfaction with Benzema’s arrival, considering the signing a direct threat to his primary role within the squad. Consequently, Núñez escalated his stance, threatening to retire from professional football if Al-Hilal refuses to sanction his move to Turkey.
These developments place Al-Hilal in a difficult position, particularly as the league leaders strive to maintain their technical stability. Núñez, who joined from Liverpool last summer for €53 million on a three-year deal, was originally considered a marquee signing. However, Benzema’s recent arrival has seemingly shattered that professional relationship, leaving the Saudi club facing a complex dilemma regarding their disgruntled forward.
