Third PGA Tour title for Chris Gotterup

Gotterup led the field in Strokes Gained: Off the Tee and achieved perfect sand saves to secure a career-defining victory. Reflecting on the round, he described a strong start that momentarily stalled before clutch putting allowed him to hold off challengers. Unlike previous years where he risked hitting driver, he opted for a conservative lay-up to guarantee fairway placement, accepting a 250-yard approach rather than risking the rough. He credits this balance of aggression and caution to learning from past errors. Furthermore, he noted that prior wins provided the necessary confidence to execute under pressure.

His two-stroke triumph marks the largest margin of victory at the Sony Open since Matt Kuchar in 2019. Consequently, Gotterup is now fully exempt on the PGA Tour through 2028, proving he has mastered both the mental and physical demands of the game.
