ACB restricts players to three foreign T20 Leagues to manage workload

This significant policy change, announced after Wednesday’s Annual General Meeting in Kabul, prioritizes player workload management, physical fitness, and mental well-being. Chairman Mirwais Ashraf presided over the decision, establishing that players can compete in the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) plus three international tournaments maximum per year. This measure aims to guarantee peak performance for national duties.

Consequently, in-demand stars like Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz face potential financial impacts due to reduced freelance opportunities. Furthermore, the ACB introduced a clause requiring foreign coaches to visit Afghanistan, ensuring domestic players benefit directly from elite expertise.

The leadership was also commended for reviving the APL and launching major infrastructure projects. Board members, including CEO Naseeb Khan and Dr. Ahmed Khalid Hatim, attended the strategic meeting to finalize these regulations.
