The Atlanta Hawks officially announced via a press release that Jacob Toppin has been sidelined. According to the team’s update, Toppin sustained a shoulder injury during a G League contest on November 29 while playing against the College Park Skyhawks.
The Kentucky alumnus has had an active start to his professional career. After going undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft, he spent the majority of his first two seasons operating under a two-way contract with the New York Knicks. His tenure in New York ended when he was waived in early March, but he did not remain a free agent for long. Toppin quickly reached an agreement with Atlanta, signing with the franchise just a few days later. The organization clearly saw potential in the young prospect, as he subsequently re-signed with the Hawks on another two-way deal this past July.
