Laurie Canter refuses PGA Tour membership to re-sign with LIV Golf

England’s Laurie Canter has officially declined a PGA Tour card to rejoin LIV Golf for the upcoming 2026 season. The thirty-six-year-old finished seventh on the DP World Tour, earning a US spot via the Race to Dubai rankings.

However, Canter decided to return to the Saudi-backed league, where he played from 2022 to 2024, representing Majesticks GC. He credited LIV for his development, stating the experience made him a "more complete player" and multiple winner. Canter recently won the 2024 European Open and the 2025 Bahrain Championship.

He also became the first former LIV golfer to participate in a strictly PGA Tour event at this year’s Players Championship. Describing his return as a "huge honour," Canter praised Majesticks GC for their excellence and ambition. He emphasized that the team’s specific identity resonates with him, leading him to choose the controversial tour over the traditional American pathway he had successfully earned.
