The Los Angeles Lakers have continued shaping their roster ahead of training camp, though most moves have focused on G League implications. With one two-way contract spot still open, the Lakers filled it Monday by signing Nick Smith Jr., according to ClutchPoints insider Brett Siegel. This brings the Lakers’ camp roster to 18 players on standard contracts or Exhibit 10 deals and three on two-way contracts, alongside Christian Koloko and Chris Mañon. Under a two-way deal, Smith is limited to 50 NBA games and cannot participate in the playoffs unless his contract is converted to a standard deal.
He is expected to spend most of the 2025-26 season with the South Bay Lakers in the G League unless injuries alter plans. Drafted 27th overall by the Charlotte Hornets in 2023, Smith was waived this offseason after two seasons, during which his role with the Hornets expanded, particularly last year.
